A UK small double mattress measures 120 × 190 cm (4'0" × 6'3"). That is the size every frame on this page is built around, so any standard UK small double mattress fits. The frame itself is larger than the mattress: siderails, padding and wings add roughly 5 to 25 cm on each side depending on the design, and the headboard adds depth at the top.
A small double suits one adult who wants room to spread out, or a guest room. For a comfortable room allow about 2.6 × 2.6 m; 2.3 × 2.4 m is tight but workable if nothing opens into the walkway. Our bed size guide covers measuring the room, stairs and doorways.

Do your small double beds come with a mattress?
The frame is sold on its own, so you can use a mattress you already have. If you need one, you can add a small double mattress on the bed page, from open coil to pillow top, and it is delivered with your bed.
