A UK double mattress measures 135 × 190 cm (4'6" × 6'3"). That is the size every frame on this page is built around, so any standard UK double mattress fits. The frame itself is larger than the mattress: siderails, padding and wings add roughly 5 to 25 cm on each side depending on the design, and the headboard adds depth at the top.
A double suits two adults in an average UK bedroom. For a comfortable room allow about 2.8 × 2.8 m; 2.5 × 2.6 m is tight but workable if nothing opens into the walkway. Our bed size guide covers measuring the room, stairs and doorways.

Choose any frame, then choose the fabric and colour: plush, crushed or marble velvet, linen-look weave, matt plush or teddy bouclé, 72 colours in all. On the bed page you can add an ottoman or divan base, drawers, a taller or split headboard, a mattress, and room-of-choice delivery or full assembly. Each option shows its double price as you pick it.

What size is a UK double bed?
A UK double mattress is 135 × 190 cm (4'6" × 6'3"). The frame is wider and longer than the mattress, by about 5 to 25 cm each side depending on the design.
What size room do I need for a double bed?
Allow about 2.8 × 2.8 m for a comfortable fit with space to walk round the bed. 2.5 × 2.6 m is workable if no wardrobe door or drawer opens into the walkway.
Is a king worth it over a double?
A UK king is 15 cm wider (150 cm against 135 cm) and 10 cm longer (200 cm against 190 cm) than a double. If two adults share the bed, or either of you is over about 6 ft, the king is worth the extra room if your bedroom is at least 3 m each way.
Do your double beds come with a mattress?
The frame is sold on its own, so you can use a mattress you already have. If you need one, you can add a double mattress on the bed page, from open coil to pillow top, and it is delivered with your bed.
How long does delivery take?
Each bed is handmade to order, so allow 3 to 4 weeks. Delivery to your door is free across the UK mainland, and we contact you to arrange the day.
