An ottoman bed is a bed frame whose base lifts on gas struts. Raise the foot of the mattress and the whole area under it opens up: the most storage any bed can give you, with no drawers to clear space for at the sides. It is the practical choice for a smaller bedroom or a flat without a loft.
Choose any frame below, pick your size, fabric and colour, then choose the ottoman base on the bed page. There are two: a slatted gas-lift ottoman, and a metal gas-lift ottoman with a stronger metal-framed platform. Both come in Single, Small Double, Double, King and Super King.
Ottoman, divan or drawers?
An ottoman holds the most, but you lift the mattress to get to it, so it suits things you reach for weekly rather than daily: spare bedding, cases, winter clothes. Drawers are quicker to open but need about 60 cm of clear floor beside the bed. A divan base with drawers is easiest to carry up a narrow staircase. How much does the ottoman base add?
The slatted gas-lift ottoman adds £219 in every size from Single to Super King, and the metal gas-lift ottoman adds £279. The prices on this page already include the slatted ottoman.
What are the downsides of an ottoman bed?
You lift the mattress to reach the storage, so it suits things you need weekly rather than daily, and you need clear headroom above the bed for it to open. Drawers are quicker for everyday things but hold less.
Is a slatted or metal ottoman better?
Both lift on gas struts and give the same storage space. The slatted base is the lower-cost choice; the metal gas-lift base has a stronger metal-framed platform if you want the sturdiest option.
Will an ottoman bed fit up my stairs?
Our beds arrive in parts and are assembled in the room, so you never carry a made-up bed upstairs. If your stairs or landing are tight, send us the measurements on WhatsApp and we will check before you order.
How long does an ottoman bed take to arrive?
Each bed is handmade to order, so allow 3 to 4 weeks. Delivery is free to the UK mainland, and you can add delivery with full assembly.
